Decatur Staleys won the opening game of their APFA (American Professional Football Association) history with a 20-0 shutout of the Moline Tractors.

Dutch Sternaman, the former Illinois University star thrilled the 1,600-strong crowd with three touchdowns, returning punts for good gains which got the crowed on their feet. It was the start George Halas’ boys wanted in the APFA, although it came against an Independent Schedule team.
